(Is there anything else I can do?). They hear the legend of "sunshine girls" who can control the weather. And I was surprised to find there are a number of overlaps. Under a perpetually gray sky, Weathering With You follows Hodaka, a teenage boy who leaves home for Tokyo with no real plan other than getting away and trying to make it on his own. Hodaka and Hina start a business, setting up a website where the denizens of Tokyo can request the sunshine girl come to their neighborhood so they can finally have a bit of blue sky for a day that means a lot to them: a wedding, a birthday party, a sporting event. Luckily, he finds work as a writer for an occult magazine that covers all things supernatural. And then theres the animation: Shinkai has outdone himself with this follow-up, presenting Tokyo not just with detailed fidelity, but also with a glow that suggests a lush, lambert [sic] inner life. Its no secret that our hearts are connected to the sky. We are only allowed to stay temporarily in the space between the sky and the earth clinging hard not to be shaken off. -Hodaka, 6. Here's my rendition of the trailer music for "Weathering With You", Makoto Shinkai's spiritual successor to "Your Name"! The entire shape of the world was changed because of Hinas powers.
